Frequently Asked Questions
What is pelvic floor physiotherapy?
Pelvic floor physiotherapy focuses on assessing and treating the muscles, ligaments, and nerves of the pelvic region. It helps improve bladder, bowel, sexual function, and reduce pain in the pelvic area.
Who can benefit from pelvic floor treatment?
Both men and women can benefit from pelvic floor physiotherapy. It is commonly used for conditions such as pelvic pain, incontinence, post-surgical recovery, pregnancy-related issues, and sexual dysfunction.
What can I expect during my first session?
Your first session will include a detailed discussion of your symptoms and medical history, followed by a physical assessment. Treatment is always explained beforehand, and your comfort and consent are prioritised at all times.
Will I need an internal examination?
In some cases, an internal assessment may be recommended to properly evaluate the pelvic floor muscles. However, this is always discussed with you beforehand and is only done with your full consent. External treatment options are also available.
Is pelvic floor treatment painful?
Treatment is generally gentle and should not be painful. Some techniques may cause mild discomfort depending on your condition, but everything is done within your comfort level.
